The October 19, 2005 Howard U. symposium, “Katrina Crisis: Mother Nature and Uncle Sam,” is the first product of this spontaneous interdisciplinary collaboration. A series of four panels were organized with expert analysts from emergency response and preparedness agencies, New Orleans researchers and reporters, medical specialists, meteorologists and engineering specialists as well as diverse faculty researchers.
